You will need cable or dsl internet service with a cable or dsl modem that can connect by ethernet and a wireless router.  This is for wireless access at you home only.   If you want to connect to wireless hotspots, then you should need nothing else except the wireless network adapter in your laptop.  Note the range of the wireless signal that you will be connecting to is less than 300 feet.
