Inspirion 530 Wireless Driver (with XP) Problem

Question

Hello,   I recently purchased a new Dell Inspiron 530 that came pre-installed with Windows Vista. I did a clean install of Windows XP, but I can't find the correct XP driver for my wireless connection.   All the other drivers I downloaded and tried from the Dell website (including the LAN drivers) work...but nothing works with the wireless.   The part number on my order form is #430-2519, Internal PCI 802.11g Wireless Network Card, Full Heigh.   Does anyone know where I can find the XP Drivers for this wireless card so it will work on my 530? Message Edited by theonlineguy on 05-02-2008 02:05 PM

Only wifi drivers I can find for the 530/531 is the Dell_multi-device_A17_R174291.exe I guess that's the one you tried to install?

Hi,

I just bought a Dell 518 with the same wireless card and Vista installed. I needed to have XP as my OS, therefore, I overwrote the Vista with XP. This had sereral effects:

1. Dell will not help with the new OS (XP) as the computer was purchased with the Vista OS.

2. The Dell tech support fellow I spoke with said that I need two drivers: a driver for an ASUS wireless WLAN card, full height PCI, and a driver for a Dell Wireless 802.11n WLAN. Both drivers are supposedly written for Vista only, and not XP (very hard to believe). Who actually makes the card is the question? Is it possibly ASUS. I don't currently have the card name as identified by a Vista software disk (the name format is WL-nnnn, but I assume the WL is generic for Wireless LAN).

If anyone can solve this dilemma, please post the solution as I believe there are many folks out there having the same problem (I may just go out and buy a different card, any suggestions?).
