Inspiron 1100 Broadcom V.92 Modem Problems (New Modem Same No Dial Tone Issue)
This laptop was brought to me after Windows XP Home was reinstalled. I do not know what the initial problem was.
After installing the OS, the modem gives the error of No Dial Tone, but you can here it when it starts to dial. After several different drivers, I was convinced the Modem was bad. I bought a new Modem (same model) and the problem is still there. You can here the Dial Tone, but then the error pops up.
I have searched this board and it seems this Modem has several issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for the chipset drivers: I'm not sure, but I reinstalled them before purchasing a new Modem.
Guess my next step will be formatting and installing XP myself. I have an OEM disk that I will use and manually install all the drivers instead of using Dell's recovery disk. A clean manual install always works better for me.
Any last suggestions before I do a Format C:? I would like a quick fix.
