Inspiron 1525 cannot detect wireless networks

Hi, I have an inspiron 1525 with windows vista. Before windows tried to download and install some updates, everything was working perfectly. now the laptop cannot detect any wireless networks. I then reinstalled vista and the laptop worked for a bit before the updates came and messed it up again. I have since installed a usb wireless stick to try and make it work but that does not work either.

I was wondering if others have experienced the same sort of issues and if anyone has a solution!
