Inspiron 1720 wireless internet connection problem

Hello

Yesterday my father asked me to reinstall windows after making complete mess of his laptop.

After formatting the hard drives and installing the Vista operating system a problem occured. After installing the drivers from the Dell Drivers CD I can't make the wireless internet working. Windows keeps giving me the "Windows needs to install driver software for your network controller" message. I have googled the whole internet, did everything from the "PLEASE READ FIRST" thread and still had no success.

I would really appreciate some help, thank you

whitenred,

Start with the notebook system utility and the chipset drivers and follow the list. Things should start working.

Thank You for quick response.

I already did it that way after installing windows. However, I did it after installing the whole operating system and installing the drivers in more of a random order. I guess that has something to do with the issue. Is there something I can do without re-installing Vista?

whitenred,

The notebook system utility and the chipset drivers need installed first, or the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the notebook system utility and the chipset drivers and follow the list. Things should start working.

Finally, it 'clicked'. I suppose it is worth mentioning, that the solution was to use the software from Dell's website. Installing drivers from the Drivers CD (in the same order) did not work.

Anyway thank You very much for quick and helpful response.
