Download Belarc advisor and run it.  It should identify the card.

I'm suprised they won't mail you the CD's.  I have a two year old Dimension and when I e-mailed them they sent me the Recovery Discs. (Windows XP and the driver and application discs.) When I first spoke to them on the phone they wanted me to buy Windows XP. But when I e-mailed them with my problem and explained my problem and that I never received recovery CD's when I purchased the compter, they shipped them overnight at no charge.

I just went throught the same thing and got mine working this morning.  If you go to dell website and enter your service tag number all the downloads are listed there. I download my network controller there. I had only one to choose from for my Dim 4700 so it was easy.

Did you remember to install the Chip Set drivers first?

Yup, I installed the chipset drivers and all of that, its just it dont recognize the network controller. My service tag number doesnt show up as anything on the site. It says its Invalid? im Hoping Gina-dell can help me on this, since she knew exactly what the Ethernet controller was. Ive tried everything I can think of so far, but still no Network Controller driver.

this will be the Inspiron 2200 driver. Click network and then on your network connection. There are about 15 to choose from.

You will have two ethernet controllers, one wired and one wireless.
