Inspiron 5000 got crash when installing network card RealPort Carbus Ethernet 10/100+Modem56 (Xircom)

After setup win 98, When I was trying to install driver for the RealPort network card, the computer got crash. I had to reboot, then saw the exclamation mark next to the RealPort network icon in Device Magager. I tried to update driver again and got crash again and when the computer was booting up, it's frozen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Boot to the safe mode, go to the Device Manager, uninstall the driver, delete the Xircom entry in the Ethernet Adapter area, then reboot and try again.  Make sure you are using the latest driver from the support site for the card.
