Inspiron 530 Windows 7 64bit Intel 82562v-2 driver problem

Hi there,

I just finished installing windows 7 and my wired network adapter has stopped working.  For the first few days after installing windows 7, the adapter worked fine (I'm using a wireless bridge), but then I installed a windows update, the dell bios update (1.0.18) and mcafee security suite all at the same time and one of them broke the network adatper drivers (I think).

Now the network icon in the task menu shows a red x.  When I click on it and press trouble shoot, windows 7 runs its diagnostic routine and only says "there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter."

In the detailed information it says: "couldn't automatically bind the ip protocol stack to the network adapter"

I've already tested the wireless bridge on another computer and it works fine, so something is wrong with my computer.

How should I go about diagnosing this?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello

Sorry I don't have much help to offer but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone encountering problems with the combination Dell Inspiron 530 / Windows 7 / Intel 82562V-2

See

The weird thing is that different people experience different issues.

Do you think your issue could also be sleep related? I have temporarily worked around my problem by disabling sleep and using hibernation instead...

Please contact Dell support to report your issue. They are not very helpful so far but the more people complain the more likely they will look into the issue. Thanks.

Thanks for the help gautrad!

I actually saw many of your posts before posting here.

My issue does not appear to be sleep related because my internet does not work at all any more, even when I don't use the sleep function.

My computer is now out of warranty - can I still contact dell support?

Hi

Well I suppose you could always report the problem to Dell so that they realize it is not an isolated issue.

You might want to try installing a different driver (e.g. the latest from Intel website) but I'm not sure if that will help.

Is the device OK in Device Manager? Maybe it's just a connection/speed link negotiation issue? Tell us more.

Try using a system restore to roll back to before you you install all the updates.

Look in the bios and make sure the adapter is still enabled

Look in device manager and see if it is listed with no ! or X next to it.

A couple of more steps to try

Disable your firewall and try to connect.

Boot into SAFE MODE with Network support.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and it seems to work fine now.  I'll check back if anything else goes wrong.  Good luck with your interrupts!
