Inspiron 6000 wireless connection problems
Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and I am experiencing a problem with the wireless network connection. I have an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection with a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller and 1394 Net Adaptor (I don't know how relevant each of these are) and connect to my wireless network via Windows.
The problem is that the wireless connection to my router first becomes unsecured and the green "Wi-Fi" light goes out near the power button, then the laptop loses connectivity to the wireless network. This occurs seemingly for no reason and I know to correct it when it happens (I just right click on the wireless symbol and repair my wireless connection), but I would like to stop it occuring in the first place as it is becoming annoying and sometimes can be quite a frequent occurance.
I have tested it on other routers using connections from different ISPs so I know it is a problem with my laptop rather than the network. Could anybody help me out and let me know what to do if anything?

robbiesalright,
Did you try updating the firmware in your wireless router?
A wireless connection just doen't go from secured to unsecured. Are you using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings in your wireless router?
Are you using any type of peer to peer programs, like Limewire, Frostwire, etc???

Hi Rick,
Yes I have got those settings applied to my network (nothing different from what I had already) and the firmware of the router is the latest up-to-date version according to the manufaturers (NetGear) website. I don't have any P2P software on my laptop either. The only way I know the connection goes from secured to unsecured is the message that pops up in the bottom right hand corner giving me a status update saying
"Wireless Network connection is now connected
Connection: network_name(unsecured)
Signal Strength: Excellent"
About 30secs to 2mins later it will lose the connection completely. I have an XBox360 linked to the router as well and this does not become interupted in any way when it happens. Plus, as I said before it is not just for my own network that this happens, it has happened on others with completely different routers.
Like I said it is a quick fix when it does happen by just clicking to repair the wireless network connection, but I just wanted a resolution to the problem in the first place really.
Thanks for you reply, any more suggestions would be very welcome :)

robbiesalright,
Did you try using this setting in your laptop?
Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager). Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
