Latitude D800 does not connect to wireless network
Problem:
My wireless network is detected and shown in a list of networks I can select to connect to. When I select my network for connection, I have to enter the network password (is normal). But the connection wil not be done.
No matter which software is used to manage the wlan card (Intel Proset or Windows).
Configuration:
- DELL Latitude D800, Precision M60
- Windows XP US, SP3
- Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter, Driver: Intel 28-2-2005 1.2.4.35
- R105328.EXE driver from DELL

This is a old wifi card. What is the security protocol of your network?

Hi ieee488,
Thanks for replying to my post!
Yes,the network card is old and it is also an old laptop (Latitude D800, Precision M60 Series). But wireless was working 100% when I bought it from a friend. Now that I have wiped the disk and installed Windows XP SP3 on it (same as my friend had), along with all the correct DELL/Intel drivers, wireless stopped working !
As I have mentioned earlier, I can see the wireless network when scanned for, but can not connect to them.
My wireless network details: Cisco Linksys E2000 with 2,4GHz Mixed mode B/G/N
Security settings: WPA2/WPA mixed mode
No connection possible with these security settings:
I have been working for a week on the problem without any luck !
Thanks

Hello IEEE488,
Thanks for your assistance.
I have followed your instructions (from DELL site):
Unfortunately resulting in the exact same problem I had before.
These are the steps I have taken:
Any other suggestions?

Windows XP is reaching End of Life in April so I don't recommend continuing to use it. For more information see:
The hardware requirements on such an old machine aren't up to scratch for Windows 7 or 8.1.
In saying that some of the XP drivers are old. Try updating the following drivers:

Okay a few things you could try. Switching wireless and off via the wireless switch or Fn and F2. This can sometimes help with some issues.
Another thing to try is to check the card is seated correctly and to reseat it. I would suspect its a software and not a hardware issue however you may open up the computer and examine the wireless card to check that the 2 cables are connected (to the top right). If one of these cables is loose you might not be able to connect. See the service manual for details.
While it might not be the solution you want to hear at this stage (given you have done a clean installation and installed all the correct drivers in the correct order including the more up to date ones I've listed) it could be easier for you to purchase and use a USB dongle to connect:

Hi natakuc4,
Thank you for your suggestions.
Yes, I am very well aware of the factt that XP is no longer supported and that it may cause security issues. I still want to try get XP up and running on my wireless. Thanks for mentioning it.
Also, tried w Windows 7 Ultimate version: no succes on wireless: hardware not supported .... :-(
I have tried your suggested drivers. However, without any success.
Hope I get help from somebody?

Hi natakuc4,
I have toggled the FnF2 switch a couple of times: no success.
Also, I have inspected the card inside: everything Ok.
I am beginning to beleive that the card is not able to connect to my wireless network at all, because I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and still not able to connect to the detected wlan. Windows mentioned that my network is not supported.
The last step I will take is to acquire a wireless usb dongle.
Result with Windows 7 Ultimate:
Something wrong with my WLAN?
Thanks
