Latitude st2 tablet momentarily drops network connection

We have two latitude st2 tablets that are running windows 8.1 pro.  We run patient management software off of a server through those tablets that requires us to be connected to a share folder in order to run the application.  When the application is left alone the network times out, and when you try to resume using the application after about 5 minutes of inactivity it crashes.  

I loaded up task manager and watched the wifi performance while the program was inactive. After about 5 minutes the wifi level dropped down to 0 for only a fraction of a second and then resumes normal levels.  After this the application crashed as usual.  I continued watching and noticed that this happens on regular intervals even when the application isn't running.  While this is not a problem for the tablet normally our patient management program requires constant connection,

Is there a setting for the tablets that resets the network connection every couple of minutes and if so can I change it?
