M14x - Difficulty with Bluetooth
I have tried a few different things from previous posts on this general topic, but have so far had no success. Some background:
Alienware M14x (R1)
Bluetooth enabled in the BIOS
Windows 7 x64 (with all latest updates applied)
I recently reinstalled the OS after a monitor* gave me some grief. The reinstallation was pretty painless and all of the other drivers (video, etc.) installed without a problem. When I tried to install the Bluetooth driver (based on my service tag) a dialog box popped up that stated "Active Bluetooth with Wireless Switch".
I tried enabling/disabling the wireless to see if that was related, but that had no effect. I went into the BIOS to make sure that the Bluetooth device was still listed and enabled (it was). Based on a suggestion in a thread about the same topic, I disabled and then re-enabled the bluetooth device to see if that made any difference (I was unsuccessful). Suggestions welcome :-/
(Edited to clarify: I tried attaching an AOC USB monitor only to have it completely mess with my graphics settings. After returning the monitor and a month of troubleshooting I decided to just reinstall the OS which brings me today's difficulty.)

Hi nonpareilpearl ,
Kindly confirm if you are trying to install the same file as mentioned below.
http://dell.to/RioSRk
Kindly set the Bios to defaults by pressing F9 in the BIOS screen and check if you are able to install the Bluetooth application.
Ensure that the “Wireless switch key/Hotkey” is selected to “All”
Also try and flash the latest Bios from Dell site.

I apologize for the delay in my response - I just had the opportunity to try what you suggested. I wanted to verify that yes, the file you indicated for Bluetooth is the one that I am using. I have also tried flashing the BIOS with the latest version you linked and changing the settings to default (although I think they were already at default) - there was no change :(
