M6600 Finds but Cannot Pair with Android Phone
Hello. M6600 with Win7/64bit. No issues finding an Android phone which is discoverable, but will not pair with it. Nothing out of the ordinary in Device Manager.
What additional magic do I need? Possibly modify some entry in the driver properties?
Thanks in advance for any tips, tricks, ideas.

Hi stef7,
Also though Device Manager shows Bluetooth device is working properly, see if uninstalling and reinstalling the Bluetooth driver helps.
Uninstall it from Device Manager (right click on bluetooth device,Uninstall, put check mark on Delete driver software, click OK),reboot the system.
Reinstall the Bluetooth driver from the link below:

Thank You

Hi stef7,
Welcome to the Community,
Does it let you pair any other device? Do you get any error message while trying to pair the Android phone?
Check the below settings and make sure it is enabled:
Click "Start." Open the "Control Panel" from the right pane. Click "Hardware and Sound."
Click "Bluetooth Devices." Select the "Options" tab.
See if "Allow Bluetooth Devices to Connect to This Computer" is enabled.
If not,put a Check mark on "Allow Bluetooth Devices to Connect to This Computer," then click "OK,"

Roshan,
Thank you for the welcome, and thank you for the response.
Yes, I verified the settings you recommended.
Yes, I can get the PC to find another device, basically an A2DP Stereo Adapter that you would connect amplified speakers to.
Interestingly, if I try to pair with the Phone, or with the A2DP Adapter, I get a Win7 error dialog:
Adding this device to this computer failed.
Adding this device failed because of an authentication error.
This might be due to the use of an incorrect pairing code.
Try adding again using the correct pairing code for the device. You might need to refer to your device's documentation for details.
Check your device's documentation to see if you need to first install special software or security certificates.
Check for any firmware or software updates for your device.
Roshan - I have verified that both the Generic Bluetooth Adapter and the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator devices are installed and "working properly". Now then, both have properties associated with them. I see no property called "Pairing Code" or anything like that.
I suspect this is a problem on the PC of course, because I have no problem pairing my Android phone with my Car Stereo, nor pairing my Android phone with this A2DP Adapter.
I suspect the Software that comes with the laptop is missing some services perhaps?
I did go into Services, and determined that "Bluetooth Support Service" is started.
I've debugged this just about to the point that I can. Did research on the web, even chatted with Dell Tech Support. Probably the solution is obvious, but I don't see it.
Really appreciate your willingness to tackle this.

PudgyOne: Thank you for the response, but no, the device was installed, enabled, and working, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to discover the phone, which I could before. There was one or more missing components.
Roshan: Yes, uninstalling and rebooting seems to have resulted in the Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) and also the BlueTooth Device (Personal Area Network) portions of the sub-system installing, where they were not before.
Now I will experiment a bit to see if I can actually connect and transfer anything.
It's my experience, for moving files to/from an Android phone wirelessly, the best thing to use is the FTP protocol: SwiFTP server from the Android Market, and a client like FileZilla on a PC. This combo allows drag and drop over WiFi and without having to resort to a USB cable.
However, I wanted to see what was possible with BT on this laptop.
Thanks for getting me a step closer to the goal.
