MAC filtering

Hello.  I'm on a Studio 15/WIndows 7.  I am following the instructions for set up of MAC filtering in the Dell Technology Guide for this laptop that I downloaded from the Dell website. (Mind you, the guide is not updated for Windows 7 yet)

So I click the start button and type "ipconfig" in the box.  I do get a possible program so I double click on that to open it and it flashes on the screen maybe on second  then  closes immediately and  I can't see any of the info on that page much less follow the rest of the directions in the guide.  Any ideas how I can make that stay open to read the MAC address and put in the filtering things?  Or, any other ways to get to that page?

I'm also trying to figure out where I can find the SSID info so I can make sure I have the correct setting there. No luck with finding that yet.   Sorry to double dip on my question!

Any thought are MUCH appreciated.

Click start-run, type CMD, then enter.  At the prompt, type ipconfig /all.

The SSID is in the setup for the router - access using a browser (in the ipconfig it'll be the gateway address).  That is, http:// 192.168.0.1 (or whatever your gateway address is).

That is normal as Ethernet and wireless are treated as two separate adapters. So they will not be the same. So depending on which one you intend to use you should set your MAC filtering to include both addresses.

Very good!  Thank you, Davet.  I can't believe I'm actually doing all this!  I appreciate the assistance!

Thank you, ejn.  If you can help, one more dumb question.  On my router admin page I have a LAN/WLAN Mac address (in the LAN setting area) and a WAN MAC address (in the Internet Settings area).  They are different.  Do you know if they should be the same?  My internet is working OK just want to check.  Many thanks.
