Modem Dial-Up
Running Dell 8200, with Windows XP Home edition.unable to connection with set-up wizard. I get to instructions to selected type of connection and only broadband is available. I have tried to manual connect with "inetwiz" but cannot name the connection. Is there a patch or a download program? I did have a virus that have been cleared and maybe the program was affected. Any suggestions will be appreciated

If you have stated m8 gone thru the setup a new connection etc and only showing for a cable modem a few possible causes, you might need to do a repair / check via run / scannow and if prompted put in the xp backup cd or try a rollback / system restore to a date prior or it could actually be the pci dial up modem its self inop' , check it in the device manager ( control panel / system / hardware ) , hope this is of help ,

Sean.

Click Start
selet run
and type 'scannow' in the box
if prompt pops up put in the xp backup cd
or
click start
selct 'help and suprt'
there should be a selection on the right saying 'system restor'
it helps you through from there m8
