More help and clarification needed
I have an existing wired Linksys BEFSR41 router(4 port switch,WAN and Uplink) connected to a DSL modem, with three XP desktop computers on it. My daughter's desktop (at the other end of the house) is on the network already, the router is in my room about 40 ft and 4 walls away on the same ground level. Can I disconnect the CAT6 cable going to her desktop and plug it in to a wireless device in her room and add her laptop to the same device even though it's on the same CAT6 cable going to my Lynksys wired router? Should I even be considering this?
I'm really just looking for the best way to add her laptop and give her the best signal and throughput. I thought that by having an access point within her room, it might be better than replacing my existing router in my room because of the distance.
If replacing the router is the best option, I'd like to buy something made recently with the best range and speed possible (within monetary reason).
All help appreciated.
I was considering the D-LInk DI-624 AirPlus Xtreme G router and notebook adapter.

All you need is an Access Point and an adapter for the notebook, or a wireless router and an adpater. The cost between the AP and the router is neglible.
