Need Help:Expresscard Merlin UX870 recognized as unknown usb device under Vista

Hello everybody,

installed Vista Ultimate 32bit on my Dell Inspriron 9400 laptop. Got it up and running including my UMTS card from vodafone, the Merlin UX870 (using the expresscard-slot). As long as I had no usb harddrives attached to usb i was able to mostly have the card recognized and could establish my umts internet connection, but suddenly the Merlin is only recognized as "unknown usb device" and is not found by the vodafone dashboard or the Vista device manager anymore.

Tried to use the Dell program available in the dwonload section instead of the vodafone dashboard software, but no change.

Installed all Vista32 drivers i could download from the website, but that didn´t help either. Deleteing the usb device in the Vista device manager had no effect too :-(((

Can someone please please please help me ?

Thanks in advance !!

Have you checked with Novatel or your service provider for updated Vista drivers?

Hello Gina, thanks for your help, problem is still not solved.... Yes, I use their newest drivers and these are Vista-compliant. Even reinstalles Vista and did everything from the scratch. Installes the Dell-drivers in the order provided in your FAQ. Installed the card driver according to the manual, but again just got an "unknown usb device". The tried to manually install the drivers but vista always tells me that i would already use the best drivers available.... Really would love to switch to Vista but this prevents it...
