Network Adapter Problem Dimension 8250
I lost ethernet access to the internet after attempting to install some security software from my ISP (Adelphia). I found 3 network adapters, which appear to be associated with the security software, flagged with a yellow '!'. Adelphia's solution was to load the USB driver and switch the modem cable from ethernet to USB. This worked, however now I can't get to my router because it requires ethernet cables. How do I restore my ethernet access?
Thanks!

Uninstall these adapters anyway. Do it from within Device Manager.

I followed your suggestions, but could not access the Internet. The security software, Adelphia Freedom, I attempted to load yesterday failed, so I did the uninstall of it then. From that point, no IE access until I installed the USB. I have the following network adapters:
Intel PRO/100 M Network Connection
!Intel PRO/100 M Network Connection - Freedom Miniport
Motorola SURFboard SB5100 USB Cable Modem
!WAN Miniport (IP) - Freedom Miniport
!Wan Miniport (IPX) - Freedom Miniport
I tried uninstalling the highlighted adapters, but got a message that the adapters may be required to boot the machine. Obviously, the Freedom software is associated to the Freedom Miniport. Any suggestions?
Thanks again
Joe

I've tried that. That's when I get the message that the uninstall failed, that they may be needed to boot the machine.

Either do a system restore back to a point before you tried to install the "Security" software, or call Adelphia. Their software messed up your computer and they should be able to explain why those network adapters are present and how to get rid of them. Tell them that a USB connection is not acceptable.
