Network Router setup

Question

I have bought an Inspiron 6000. At the same time I bought a 2350 Wireless Router. I have just tried to set this up on my Dimension 4600. My broadband connection is with BTopenworld and the modem supplied for this is an Alcatel SppedTouch USB. The connection into the PC is via a USB connection. This means that I can not follow the instuctions to set up that require me to remove the ethernet cable connection on the pc and so the ethernet cable supplied with the Router is no good. There is no alternative ethernet port on the modem itself. Please help!

You will need to replace the modem with one that can connect by ethernet. Routers that can connect to a modem by USB are nearly impossible to find, and even when you can find one, they are very very expensive. There are complicated alternatives, but my best advice is to consult your ISP and find out which ethernet modems are compatible with their system.
