Not able to connect to internet

Hi there

I am using a Dell XPS M1530 laptop. I had to re-install the OS as it was infected by some virus. Now the problem is I am not able to connect to the internet.  Network adapters are not showing any wireless adapters. They show 1)  bluetootth device ( Personal Area Network) and 2) Bluetootth Device ( RFCOMM Protocol TDI). No wireless adapters. Can anyone help me to connect me to the net. I'm using my friend's computer.

Thanks

Krishnan

Hi,

You can update the drivers for wireless card for your computer. In order to install the correct drivers for the wireless card and Ethernet, you need to check from ‘Device Manager’ which card is installed on your computer.

You can install drivers for your computer from link below:

  • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
  • Click on “Manage”.
  • Click on “Device Manager”.
  • Under “Network adapters”, you will find the network driver listed.
  • Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the wireless driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Click on the below link:    http://dell.to/OukFUO
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • You will find the network drivers under “Network”.
  • Click on the wireless driver depending on the wireless card your system has. (Install the same wireless driver which you checked from “Device Manager”.
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the driver on your desktop.
  • Once the driver is saved on desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Install the wireless driver by following the on screen instructions.
  • Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Krishnan,

When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
