Yes, you can reinstall it. Download the drivers from support.dell.com and follow the instructions. To register a .dll open the command prompt and type in "regsvr32 dllName" (without the quotes and replace dllName with the name of the .dll). Let us know if you need help reinstalling the drivers/application. Also, check in the event log after you log in to get a more useful error message.
This was a tough one. Spent several days trying to troubleshoot the exact same problem on my Dell Latitude D830. The final solution for me was to download and reinstall two drivers:
The Broadcom driver for the 57xx Gigabit Integrated Controller
The Dell driver for the Wireless 1395 WLAN Minicard
I'm not sure which one of these took care of the problem, but after I installed both, the irritating Notification dll message went away.
Downloading and installing the drivers is fairly straightforward. You need to navigate to the appropriate Dell Drivers web page. The direct link for your system is:
Select your operating system, etc in the first four drop downs.
Then in the "Results" tab below the four drop downs click on the "+" sign next to "Network (8)".
There are 8 drivers listed there for your laptop. Not all of them will apply (for instance the ones with "(Japan)" in the description are not necessary), and some of them say "Optional". I would ignore those as well.
It really helps if you know the specific components in your computer, but without going into how you find those out, you should download and install the first driver listed. You should also download the Dell driver for your WLAN card, but you will need to know whether or not you have the 1370 or 1470 to get the right driver. Again, there are several steps in the download and installation process, but I have always found it fairly straightforward. Just follow all the prompts and use the default suggestions. Once you have downloaded and installed the correct drivers, your message should go away.
As for registering the .dll again, reinstalling the drivers should take care of that. I didn't need to re-register any drivers when I fixed my notification error.
Thanks Micron, but I was downloading the first optional and says that I have it already. Should I try again? I had a warning stating that doing this will delete all!
