Orinoco Mini PCI card...

I have a Latitude C400 which I bought as a secondhand laptop.

When I got the machine Windows2000 professional was installed on it.

I checked the device manager and found it had a Truemobile 1150 Mini PCI card installed. After checking some more devices I just formatted the hard disk and installed another Windows2000 which is not an English version.

But when after the installation it didn't find the driver for the WLan card. So I went to the Dell's website and download the Truemobile 1150 driver. The problem was it didn't work at all.

To see if it works in Windows XP I installed it and the network was running perfectly. (the device manager says it's a ORiNOCO Wireless LAN PC Card (3.3 volt) )

I heard some people say Orinoco and Truemobile cards are actully the same devices. Could anybody explain this and tell me how to install the Truemobile driver?

Webds,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Dell supports systems purchased from us directly.  You should try to find drivers from Orinoco which support their product.  Dell drivers are written specifically for Dell devices.  Windows XP may have had a compatible driver in its bag of drivers which worked with your card.

Dude, you are better off with the ORiNOCO Driver. I actually replaced my Truemobile 1300 card with an ORiNOCO card. I do some WAR Driving and play with Linux and Knoppix(Linux on a bootable CD) and it works great.
