PCI Ethernet Card for use in Windows 98SE
Am in the process of subscribing to my City's owned Fiber Optic system for internet access.
I do have a much newer desktop that will be no problem in connecting to that system because it already has an Ethernet connection that I currently use with a modem for the Cox Cable internet service.
But, I also have a much older Dell Dimension XPS T600r (PIII) that is running Windows 98SE.
Since it did not come with an Ethernet Card, is there an Ethernet Card that I can currently purchase & install that will allow me to connect that old computer to the Fiber Optic system for "limited" access to the Internet. Do you have a specific card that you can recommend.
I assume that this old system will somewhat limit the speed at which I can connect, but anything is better than the only other alternative of Dialup.

I would recommend you lock that system down with some serious antivirus and firewall software. Windows 98 has no security at all, so it has a big target painted on it for hackers and such.

You might find something you can use here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=ethernet+card+pci

Do you have some recommendations of AntiVirus software and Firewall Software that will run in Windows 98 SE (Second Edition)?
