How do you know the router has a live connection to the internet?  What is the true IP Address?

 

Have you tried using only the IPv4 protocol instaed of 4 & 6?  What is the modle of your Dell laptop?

I know the router works because I've connected the router to a laptop, and it works just fine. It's a PC, not a laptop. I don't know how to find the true ip address, and what is ipV4? Sorry, i'm a little computer illiterate. The PC is a Dell Dimension E310.

The connection status you see is from the desktop to the router, which is kinda hard to screw up.  Enter the setup page for the router (from you documentation you can find this) and there will be something called Status.

 

The true IP Address is listed there.  is this cable or DSL.
