Plug and Play Configuration Error???

Well just a few months ago after getting my new hard drive my Ethernet card failed on me..whenever i turn on the computer with the Ethernet Card in the PCI slot a little black screen says "Plug and Play Configuration Error" I've been using my DSL attatched to the USB and wow its deadly slow...can someone please help and tell me what the problem is with the ethernet card??

Which Dimension model do you have? Which Ethernet card do you have? What Operating System is installed? Have you tried resetting the BIOS? Does the problem happen regardless of which PCI slot the card is in? PCI Ethernet cards are so inexpensive that getting a replacement to check that it's the card is a very reasonable option.

i have a Dimension 8200 running Windows XP Home, the ethernet card is a GVC Realtek card, and it does happen regardles of which PCI slot it is in...

It sounds like a failed card. If you want to try resetting the BIOS defaults, here are Dell's notes on how to do that.

But I suspect replacing the card is what will resolve the problem.

thanks jimw, i will try to get that ethernet card up and running as soon as possible once i get my hard drive back
