Problem printing on a Dell 968 AIO printer with wireless network adapter

I have a 2wire router from Bell.  It is configured with a WEP code.  I entered this WEP code on my laptop and have no problem of connection.  I have a Dell 968 AIO printer with option to add a wireless adapter.  I added a Dell 1150 Network Adapter later on an successfully connected the printer to the router using the configuration utility wizard.

Few months later I tried to connect my laptop from the company I work for to the wireless printer.  I could not install the driver successfully and found out the company did not allow that we connect the machine to wireless printer.  Since then, I have problems connecting my own computer to the printer.  I uninstalled the printer drivers and reinstalled it many times using the disk that came with the printer.  I tried by selecting the wireless option.  I also tried by selecting USB cable (wireless adapter removed from the printer) and configured the wireless adapter then after.  A tech from Dell Support loaded the newest drivers and worked on my machine over an hour without success to print wireless.

I reinstalled it myself using the disk and still cannot print local documents (emails, Word, Excel, Access, etc) wireless but I can print documents from the internet and the test page prints when I do the new install.  When I print the network settings from the printer menu, the printer stops at the wireless settings.  It only prints the line Type BBS: Infrastructure and freezes there.  I have to restart the printer.

Any idea where to look?

My machine is a Dell Studio 1735 if that is of any help.

Gaetan Monette,

I really don't recommend using WEP. It can be hacked and there can be problems. Try using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings in your wireless router, I use channel 11. I'd change the network name to make connecting easier. Once you change any of these settings, the printer will need to be setup, again.

Try using the instructions located at...

If you need any help, please ask.
