Problems connecting with VoIP wireless router Linksys WRTP54G
Thanks in advance to all who help:
Basic details:
Computer: Inspiron 6000
Internal modem
Router: Wireless Linksys WRTP54G
A few weeks ago, using this router, everything was working fine. However, recently, after an automatic windows update (not sure if this plays into the problem or not), the wireless connection can see full strength on the network name (both my secured connection and the local connections near my apartment that are unsecure), but won't connect to them.
The phone works fine. The internet connection when plugged directly into the laptop works fine. The wireless network shows excellent connection available, but after trying to connect wirelessly after a few minutes, I get an error message telling me there's a problem with the connection.
The folks at linksys support ran me through everything on their end and said since the router was running fine and the connect is viewable, that the fact that it won't connect is a Dell problem.
Any suggestions on how to fix this to get the wireless working again would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Justin

You may want to try "temporarily" disabling any firewalls you have on the wireless interface. Start with the XP firewall and then work your way back to the AV software. Chances are the automatic update may have turned your XP firewall on.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I tried that. I disabled ZoneAlarm and the XP firewall and neither allowed the connection to go through.
I'll take any other suggestions you might have.
thanks,

Then lets take it from the other end.
Temporarily configure your Linksys as an open system (no WPA/WEP) and configure the client the same way. Can you connect now?
