RIS & Intel Pro1000

I have used RIS for months now to create and deploy desktop and laptop images for Optiplex, Precison and Inspirons, all run perfectly with no problems, unitl I try to use the same method for servers.  I am currently trying it with a test sc1425 server which has the intel pro1000 nics, I have used the drivers form the server CD, downloaded from dell and from intel, and I get the same problem when when installing the image, the image you selected does not contain the necessary drivers for your network adaptor.  This is a Riprep image with and $OEM$\$1\drivers\nic directory which includes all extracted files from the CD/downloads, the i386 dir only contains Mirror1, templates and the riprep.lof file, but i copied the requires *.sys and *.inf files here and for good measure put them into the windows\inf dir (inf file)and windows\system32 dir  (sys file).  I have checked the installed files on the original server and the match the ones I am using in the image.  either RIS is unable to use these drivers or I am missing something, any ideas would be appreciated

Have you copied the Core Windows 2003 server CD up to the RIS server?  You might want to start there.  After you've done that, copy your driver files into the Windows\I386 directory of that newly created folder.  Open the .inf file as well.  Change the Manufacturer = Intel.

Reboot your RIS server after you've done all of this.

Thanks for that I had tried editing the inf files as some of the other driver files i downloaded had different entries for manufacturers, but tried as you mentioned with just intel in there and still same problem.  I was just doing net stop/start binlsvc but as you suggested tried a full reboot, still same problem, I then created a clean image with just the latest dell drivers, editied inf file and inf and sys files copied to the locations according to the readme in the RIS_INF dir from the extracted drivers file, full reboot and same problem.

My orignal idea was a copy of the dell CD I36 tor the RIS server and $OEM\$1\drivers directory with sub dirs for all drivers required for all our servers (2850, 1425, 2950), this works very well with our range of optiplex's.  The problem I had was the hard disks could not be found, after checking latest drivers and confirming the driver load order with Dell tech support (Raid, SATA, Chipset, Video & NIC), although I did re arrange these and try just the RAID and SATA, all with same problem.  It only took 20 minutes to build the server and then image it so I used this Riprep image to test the Imaging.

any other suggestions would be welcome

thanks
