Re: Cannot Connect to Internet. Windows XP Programs on all 4 Computers.

In my works to get this Problem Resolved, My Problem Has Been Solved. Here's what I did (and I am not feeling that smart about it. only pretty stupid.)  During one of my several phone calls - over the months - to my Internet Connection Provider (COX Cable), I was informed to RESET My Modem and See if that Works. My Mistake Was - I didn't let the Modem - Sit Unpowered long enough (time). I have been Unpowering - Unplugging and Taking Out the BackUp Battery - the Unit but not waiting enough time - Over 3 min, 5min is better - before Applying All Power back to the Modem. Since I discovered this stupidity, I have been leaving the Modem Unpowered longer than before (which was maybe 30 sec or a minute and then applying power back to the unit). I Have Been Able To Get Online With 2 of my computers and know I will be able to get the 3rd one online soon (other work needs to be done). While the 4th Computer Will Not Be Going Back Online - Unless I am Extremely Lucky. My 4th Computer is So Old ... That Dell  only has drivers for it from the time it was made to "Windows 2000".  My 4th Computer has been run by Windows XP (No Dell Drivers were made for this unit using XP). I thought about it and Realized that the Previous Owner of my 4th Computer - Dell Dimension 8100 - had apparently Installed Windows XP - on top of - either Windows 98, 2000 or maybe ME and it ran great for several years. Now that I have lost drivers for this computer, I can't download the proper drivers for this unit because I don't own a Windows 2000 or ME Program. (I went to school learning to be a Computer Tech and was using " Windows 2000 " as our Operating System.  Windows XP came out close to, if not at the end of my schooling to become a computer tech.) (Needless to say, if anyone knows... you wouldn't want Windows 2000 or Windows ME Program to operate your computer.) The last comment, in parentheses, is partly a personal feeling by me.

Thanks to all the people who have sent me emails offering their info on solving my problem.  My current problem is setting up my Router.  I don't remember how to get " DAN addresses ". (it's been quite awhile since I have had to get any, but my router (linksys wrt54g ver. 6) wants 2 of them to include into my setup of the router.
