Hi,

It is most likely the KBD, from the product support Tab above you should be able to find a manual.

Thanks for your suggestion, sorry I posted this in the wrong forum - I only realised afterwards!  I've found the manual for keyboard replacement now, I just find the diagram a bit difficult to understand and wonder how difficult the keyboard is to replace in reality if I've never done anything like it before?

Thank you for your reply, and for directing me to the manual - if I work up the courage to attempt removal of the keyboard it should be very helpful.

Hi,

The keboard is quite easy to change. I will give some steps as a guide, Remove battery and all external cables, remove the 4 screws underneath. There are 3 tabs on the top to prise up. The keyboard will then slide back and out. It has a Zif connection. ( zero insertion force, there is a coller you have to slide up to release the  cable, you can release the sides by lifting up a few mm ) Reverse to replace, and make sure you tuck the cable in as it was.

I had a keyboard situation recently with a student I support (technical support) and had the luxury of removing their keyboard (different brand of computer) and cannabilizing one from a similar model, same keyboard. Their system works fine and they are happy.

I left the keyboard disconnected from the other computer, anticipating receipt eventually of replacement keyboard.

One or two days ago I really needed that other computer, so I installed the faulty keyboard in it. The user (a different student, group actually) reported that it (the other computer, with "defective" keyboard) worked like a charm (for PowerPoint presentation).

my daughter has damaged the D and M they work but are pushed in.  Does anyone have a damaged keyboard that I can get keys from.  If you can email me I would appreciate it.  bmns78@comcast.net
