Router worked before now it doesnt any ideas?
I bought a Dimension 300 about 2 months ago, when i first got i hooked up my router and it worked fine, I do not have another pc im networking with I was using the router as protection for my ip. and later hooking up a lap top to do networking. One day it freaked out, I have hooked it up severla times and ran the router formatting disk and everything and every time i do it the icon at the bottom of pc says my internet connection is either down or running very slow. Now I have had this router for over a year and it i hooked it up fine to my old pc and it worked fine on the new one for awhile, so i know i have the thernets cables in correctly. Any ideas?? Thanks

Which make and model router is it? Have you tried resetting the router to its factory default settings by holding the reset button in for about 10 seconds? Have you had any power failures recently. I have been through about 4 routers in the last 4 years, all seemingly failured due to power failures (or hurricanes). Fortunately routers are now relatively inexpensive.

I have my router set to Auto detect.
I have my network card set to 100 Mbps/Full Duplex
This setup has never disconnected or slowed down in over 2 years.
Try it. You can always change it back if it doesn't work.
My isp caps at 4MB.
My speed has never been below 3.5MB
Have wireless on another computer has never lost its connection either.
