SBC DSL Connectivity

I have SBC DSL as my ISP. When I connect my Inspiron 8200 to the 2WIRE wireless router I have trouble navigating the web. If I click on a link or favorite I will get a "Page can not be displayed" message. If I reclick the link or favorite I will almost always get the web page I want. If I look at network status it shows "Connected" or "Aquiring Network Address" alternating every 45 seconds to a minute. This problem showed up a couple of weeks ago. I have had the 2WIRE and SBC for about 8 months without problem.  SBC claimed it was spyware. So I ran 3 different antispyware programs to clean my computer. When that did not work they said it was my browser and I needed to remove and reinstall it. This is easier said than done in Window XP. I did not buy that and called back. This time they said it was a my network card driver and I needed to reinstall it. I did not, but I did download the latest Dell driver update. When this did not work SBC said my network card is bad. They claim their network is working fine. I would like to know if I could still have spyware messing my computer up? I used Spybot, Ad Aware, and  Microsoft AntiSypware. Or could it be a network driver issue? Or could it be corrupt software in the browser?  Or finally could it actually be a bad network board? Thanks in advance!

I saw this problem recently on a 2400 with adsl through SWB Yahoo DSL.  I fiddled with it for a long time, and I finally needed to call their overseas tech support.  I got lucky and found a tech who knew what he was doing.  He had me go to their online configuration site and change a setting for PPP bridging.  This solved the problem, absolutely.  Nice 2.4-2.8 Mbps throughput after that without interruption.  If you need the URL for the online configuration site I mentioned, post here and I will get them for you.
