Seeking Correct Wireless Card for Inspiron 530S
Last week I purchased an Inspiron 530S at a retailer and adding a wireless card wasn't an option. I didn't understand the limitations of the slim case until trying to find a card for this. As per Dell tech support, I ordered the 2.4/5 GHz Wireless 1505 PCI Express WLAN Mini-Card (part # 430-2512).
Upon receiving it, I found the instructions were for installing in a laptop. I went to Dell Tech Support Chat again and they eventually verified that this is supposed to be the correct card (and it's also used in laptops). When I asked for instructions, they simply referred me to the crude illustration from the manual.

I've never dealt with a PCI Express card and am no hardware expert, but I've added regular wireless cards several times. There are very few sockets of any kind available in this slim computer, but the one I see closest to this size isn't big enough. Nor can I match up the pictures exactly with my computer.
The wireless card is tiny - about 1" tall and 1'-1/2 inches long.
Can anyone confirm if this is the correct card and offer advice?
P.S. After researching and reading, I'm starting to see far more cons than pros with this slim case. I'm still within my return period and seriously considering it. So if anyone has general comments about this model, I'd appreciate that as well.

well, the card that ships with the 530S now is part# 430-2767 .... what they shipped you is a mini pci express card for notebooks. I would say they do not know what they are taking about.
You want the Dell 1505 wireless-n PCIe card that is designed to fit your desktop PCIe x1 slot which is part# 430-2767.
