Setting up PC as a router

Hi..

Im trying to set up a wireless network with two Dell PC's in the same office.

I have been told that I can use one of them as a router .

My broadband conection is through a usb to this PC and ive tried to install a Netgear Wireless Access Point through the ethernet port.

Im told I need to change the ICS setting but cant find any instructions how to do this.

I have alreadty installed the network card in the other PC so its just down to software configuration now I believe....

ANy Idea?

Hi..

If you do not have an ethernet router and a modem without an ethernet port on it, it is possible to share the internet connection between the computers using ICS.

If your host computer is running win xp, go to the network connections window and share the icon for internet connection there (You would be able to find the icon for the broadband connection, since, you would have installed the software for it). Then, you would find a small hand symbol beneath the same icon and the local area connection icon will have an IP address in the range 192.168.0.*. You can check the IP address by double clicking the icon for the Local Area connection and clicking on the support tab.

Now, you need to configure the wireless connection (if the other computer is a wireless client). Then, if it is running win xp, run the network setup wizard on this computer. That computer must get an IP address in the same range as the host.

Check this link please, for more info on the same: http://www.homenethelp.com/ics/ics-install-netxp.asp

Good Luck!!!
