Setting up wireless with Comcast

I have a brand new Inspiron 60M and Dell wireless router (2350).  I also have a Dimension desktop on the net through a Comcast cable modem.  I tried activing the router today on the Dimension -- hardware install went fine but setup failed twice.  Comcast live chat said "Comcast doesn't support do-it-yourself installations; get help from manufacturer."    They also said Comcast server does not use a host or domain name (leave those fields blank) and uses dynamic IP addresses becuz the number of users outnumber the number of available addresses.  I tried Dell help network but it is so busy that the link isn't even active.  Any idea how I can get the router working so we can put the Inspiron on line wirelesssly?  Many thanks.

This has been covered to death.  When you connect a new device to a modem, you need to power it off and then back on with the new device connected for them to talk.  Also you do not need the setup utility as it doesn't work anyway.  Follow the directions in the User Guide for the 2350 for manual setup.

Sorry for the redundancy but I'm new at this.  I had already powered ithe modem off and on again through repeated attempts -- enough attempts so that I don't know which nuance finally got it working.  But it is now.  Now all I have to do is find out what the default password is for the control utility.  Thanks very much for your help.

The manual will show the default password.  I didn't intend for it to sound as snippy as it did.  A search would have returned a great number of posts covering your issue, thats all.

No offense taken, John;  I am grateful for the communication.  I found the default password for the router.   Other misc. start-up hitches have occurred but none unsurmountable so far.  Very glad you are out there.  Don
