Your browser is irrelevant. You do not use your IE to see the shared folders. You use Windows Explorer. We need to know what operating system is on both computers and what 'wizard' you are using. Your network setup is important. Explain how your home network connects the computers.
I am using Windows XP Professional on both computers. Both have Workgroup named MSHOME. I used wizard for "setup a home or small office network". I have a ATT 2 wire Modem. Both computers are connected to the internet thru ATT.

carsondot,
Not too keen on file sharing, my kids don't want to share files with dad.
You need to have a carsondot account on bothe the computers with identical passwords.
When all else fails, try the FREE features in Network Magic
