Slow internet with 1703 card on Windows 8
Have had my XPS One 27 for a few days and the 1703 wireless card has cut my download speeds more than half. Whereas I was getting anywhere from 75 to 80 Mbps on my previous machine with a b/g/n/ wireless card, I am now only able to get 25 to 30 Mbps on this new machine. Nothing has changed on my router, I just plugged in the XPS One 27 and it automatically found the router and I logged in without a problem. The router is the WNDR 3700. I am on a 105Mbps tier and need my download speed restored to what I used to get. What can I do to achieve this? Is there a "tweak" or is there a better wi-fi card I can install?

Hi icg1032,
I‘d advise that you update the wireless card driver on your system and check for issue resolution. Please refer to the link below for the Dell Wireless 1703 wireless card driver.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded, installed, rebooted and the results are the same. And if this problem cannot be resolved, I may have to return this product. Please advise as soon as possible.

Downloaded your ftp link and as it was installing I received the following message:
Your existed ProductVersion is higher than the your ProductVersion. Installation quit.
Any other suggestions? This is getting pretty aggravating and I hope you can understand.

Thanks for trying to help but I'm returning the product. I contacted Technical support and they say it's a software problem and that it's not covered under the warranty and I have to pay for any support.. So, rather than mess around with this crap, I'm returning the product. I should have known better as previous experience with Dell has been just as horrible. I was hoping it had changed, but apparently it has not changed at all.
Again, thank you for trying to help, I appreciate your effort.

I think this is not related to your notebook, it seems to be related with the network driver. It's 2015 now, so 1703 seems to be old by now. Anyway I intend to share here my experience after migrating my OS from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
I think Dell should really test 1703 and other wifi drivers. Since I installed Windows 10, my internet link slowed to 6MB. Any other device in my house can reach 10 MB.
To solve this slowness I went to "Power Options" and chose "Maximum performance" for "plugged in" and "on battery".
My notebook is Inspiron but I think this is something really wrong with latest dell driver for Windows 10 www.dell.com/.../drivers
Device: Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b|g|n (2.4GHz)
Manufacturer: Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc
Driver date: 6/12/2015
Driver version: 10.0.0.321
I hope Dell / Qualcomm provide a good driver for 17xx wifi series.
