The answer is yes and no. the Dell card is capable of G speeds..54Mbps. Now the no part and that it different equipment form different manufacturers can lead to slower speeds.
I would first check your wireless adapter settings. go to device manager and under the network adapter right click on our adapter listing and select properties.
On the pop up window go through the tabs looking for the adapter settings listing. Might be under an advanced tab. Look at the setting and make sure the adapter is not set for just one network type look for any settings related to speed settings.
Make sure you dont have any interference from outside sources. For example a microwave nearby a 2.4 ghz telephone. Interference can be caused by someone in your neighborhood on the same channel as you. Usually the default channel setting in your router is 6. Changing to channel 1 or 11 may help.

I spoke to the people at Linksys & (not to my suprise) they didn't know much about most of the settings. Then, as another reply suggested I changed the channel on my router from 6 to 1 and am now getting speeds between 48 & 54 Mbps.
I have a DELL Wireless 1395 and it the wireless network connection was getting slower and slower.
At the end I couldn't even use it (5 kb /s). I tried everything, even reinstalling teh drivers, upgrading and change of channel.
Everywhere I read it's just DELL Wireless and Intel Wireless does not have the problem.
I couldn't imagine Dell hardware is bad, so it had to be something completely different. I tried some advanced settings of in the properies of the wireless card and found the parameter that tunes it up to superb maximum speed.
Fragmentation limit/Fragmentatie drempel is at the maximum 2346 and I changed it to 1024. =================================================================
