Trouble installing drivers for new Intel Centrino Advanced N 6200 Wifi card in Inspiron n7010
So I bought an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6200 Wifi card for my Dell Inspiron n7010 and replaced the stock card. I went here and got the latest driver from Intel (15.8.0) and I tried to install. I get the error message "Device driver software was not successfully installed" and there is a red "X" with "Failed next to it. In Device Manager there is a yellow exclamation mark over "Intel (R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN". under Device status in properties it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I've tried to uninstall, re-download the driver, older version of the driver (15.6.0 and 15.4.1).
Is it possibly a faulty device or does this point directly to driver issues only? Only need this information in case I need to return the item since I don't have another device to test this card on.

cap223,
Download these drivers and save them to your desktop.
Intel Intel(R) WiFi Link 6300, Intel (R) WiFi Link 6250, Intel(R) WiFi Link 6200, v.tic: TRWFW1127D, A03
Make a system restore point.
Start, control panel, device manager, network adapters. Look and see if the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN is listed. If it is, right click on it, left click uninstall. Tell it to remove the drivers and software.
Restart your computer.
When you log back in, the adapter will try to install, but fail. Install the drivers for the adapter. You could also try the Intel drivers as they should install.
A restart my be needed.
Try to connect. What happens.
Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Thanks Rick. However, I got as far as uninstalling, restarting, and trying to install the drivers from the link you provided. It successfully unzips the files into an appropriate folder and then I get the error:
This software package cannot be installed on your system. The setup application will exit.
Tried it again and no error this time?!
Installed the Intel Driver (15.8.0) and completes fine but in properties>drivers it shows 15.0.7.3 ???
Restarted the computer and opened back up to find the same thing as the original problem:
In Device Manager>Network Adapters I see the Yellow Exclamation mark on the 6200 card and in Device Status "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Ok so I figured out that unzipping the files from the link you sent me isn't enough. I have to install or run setup. There are a bunch of files in the FK8CT folder and the "Setup" file is the one that gives me the error "This software package cannot be installed on your system. The setup application will exit."

cap223,
Shutdown the computer.
Remove the battery and unplug it from the wall.
First try pressing the power button for 30 seconds, then put the battery back in and start the computer. When you log back in, does the computer try to find the wireless adapter? If no, then shutdown the computer, remove battery, unplug, press the power button for 30 seconds. The reseat the wireless adapter.
When you start the computer, what happens?
Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system?
Code 10
If the device has a FailReasonString value in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator puts this registry string value there. If there is no FailReasonString in the hardware key, you receive the following error message:
Recommended resolutions
Here are some things that you can try to resolve this problem.
Update the driver
In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.
You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.

:( Rick I haven't changed anything with the OS recently. I read the article on code 10 but when trying to update it says I have the latest driver and the card is compatible with windows 7

Why can't I run the dell driver program that you sent a link to? R259343 It says the software package cannot be installed. I've reseated the card to no avail. It doesn't try to find the adapter on restart and I still have code 10

cap223,
Try downloading and installing, in this order...
Dell System Software, v.7.0.1, A01
Intel Mobile Chipset, PM45 Express Chipset Family, GM45 Express Chipset Family, (R) Mobile Chipset, PM55 Express Chipset Family, Cantiga Chipset, HM57 Express Chipset Family, HM55 Express Chipset Family, v.9.1.1.1020, A03
Then try the drivers again and see if they install.
