75Smith,

The wireless pc card is fairlly easy to install.  It just plugs into the pc slot on the side of your computer.  Once in, it should start the installation process and ask you for the software cd that comes with it.  The only other item you would need would be a wireless router/access point, which would connect directly to your DSL modem.  There is some configuring to do to the router and the pc card, but that will vary with what type of wireless system you get.  You'll have to rely on the accompanying documentation for advice, but its easy to follow.  If you run into problems, you can always post specific questions here and get the answers.  The only thing I would caution you on is Trumobile products.  If you read the posts here, you will see that a LOT of people have problems with them.  You might look into other wireless products, such as Linksys or DLink.  I've been using Linksys for several years and have never had any problems, nor has anyone I've recommended it to.  There are other good wireless systems as well, but make sure you research any of them before you buy.

I am interested in the actual Mini PCI card that is an internal item I believe which will leave the available two slots open for other use,I am wondering what it involves to actually install one???Is there soldering involved??Or just a simple plug and play???How far into the lapto will I have to go or will an expert tech need to do this install...Thanks

75Smith,

Sorry, I misread your question.  I didn't know the answer but was going refer you to another post by Johnallg who answered a similar question, but it looks like Steve got it for you.  Sorry about the mixup.

It would help to know which model Latitude you have.  On models that have a slot for the mini PCI card it's just a matter of unscrewing the cover on the bottom of the computer, pressing the card into its slot, and attaching the attenna cables.  Instructions are in the owners manual that came with the computer or those found on the Dell Support site.
