I have had the same problem.

I have tried for hours to reconnect by resetting the router, re installing the software, resetting the configurations. The only thing that I can think of, is the router is bad. The wireless connection to the router is good, but the router is not communicating with my DSL modem.  There was an electrical storm in my area. Not sure if that has anyting to do with it. When I plug my DSL connection directly to my computer everything is fine.

If there is anyone who has any suggestions, please post.

Do you have Comcast Broadband Internet connection? That was my problem. Comcast changed something about 3 weeks ago. What ever they changed the Dell 1184 router would not work. Comcast changes the ISP every couple hours and the 1184 can't handle it. I've heard Dell was the only one having problems and Comcast was working on a fix. That was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything from them.

Last week I purchased a Dell 2300 wireless router and everything is working fine.

Yes I spoke to Dell and they indicated that they are having problems with Comcast, however I have Bellsouth DSL. Still having the problems.

There was an excellent posting by hfbg on 5/31/2004 (Re: 1184 TruMobile router suddenly won't allow access). There have been lots of postings regarding this issue, but after three weeks of my router not working w/ comcast, hfbg's solution was the only that fixed my problem.

My connection has been working for three days now. My fear is that they will change my IP address soon (my lease expires friday), and I will have to reconfigure my router again. Now that it is working, I've just left my modem and router on 24hrs/day to maintain my lease.

If the fix described in this post by "shoky" works, maybe the problem can be fixed and stay fixed! Since "shoky" replaced the 1184, as of now there's no feedback about the results. But the procedure (register the 1184) sounds very reasonable!
