pci as well, but I tend to like the kind that have a tethered antenna. The 'stick' antennas of some pci cards get almost no signal at the back of my pc between it and a brick wall. The same go for USB adapters -- if it's worth a desktop I prefer the type with a long USB cable over the stick variety.
As for reasons, PCI tends to be more stable (there are at least 2 hotfixes I know of you should definitely apply if you go the USB route).
