Using Bluetooth 350 with Sprint Treo 650 Smartphone

Wondering if anyone has had success with using Bluetooth 350 to connect with their Treo 650 to use it as a wireless modem.
I have a brand new Inspiron 6000 with Bluetooth 350.  I have been able to pair my Treo and Inspiron through Bluetooth, however, when I go to the add a new connection wizard through Bluetooth, I have problems.  After I click on Express Mode, it searches for Bluetooth devices.  The select a device box comes up, and my Treo is listed as an option.  However, after I click on the device and next, it tries to connect to the device, but after a few seconds a box pops up that says "Connection failed."  Not sure if I have DUN enabled correctly on my computer or not.
If you have been able to get this connection to work, would be interested in how you were able to do it.
Thanks for your help.

I am having the same issue and have looked everywhere for solutions. Did you ever resolve this?

Same here... I am still trying. I have made it as far as dialing but it won't connect. It is an issue with the Dell drivers. I have an external USB Bluetooth I bought from Compusa and it works fine. But I want to use the internal. I found something about using Widcom drivers and am working that route. I will let you know if I get it to work.

Hello,

No, I have never been able to resolve the issue.  I've tried Sprint, Palm and Dell, and all seem to think it's the other companies problem.  I've given up, unless someone has a solution.

Well I got the Widcomm drivers to work but it is not an easy fix. If you feel up too it and are comfortable messing aroung with your machine, here is my workaround. If all else fails you can do a windows restore. Now if you plan to follow this it is at your own risk. If you have problems or something doesn't seem to work right per the instructions let me know. Good luck

Download the Widcomm drivers from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2RELBI65

Download the patch from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D3PNIH7P

You can select the download button after a few seconds. It will be in the upper right hand corner under the Ad box.

It's compressed with 7-zip, which can be downloaded from http://www.7-zip.org/

Extract the Widcomm drivers in to a folder you can easily find. Then extract the patch files into a different file. Then move all of the files in the folder from the extracted patch file into the scvpack folder in the widcomm32 folder.

Now you have to uninstall the dell drivers from the add remove software. Then in device manager uninstall the Dell internal Bluetooth under the USB devices.

Do not reboot. Now install the Widcomm drivers by launching the install from inside the widcomm32 folder file you just extracted and patched. Click the Inst file. You will get all of the new hardware ect. It should find and load but you may have to help it if the new hardware wizards show up. Just click find automatically (the default).

Now if you get the Widcomm software and drivers to load, you then have to set up the phone. Turn on the phone and enable DUN from the Bluetooth menu on the Treo. Now click on the set up device wizard from the My Bluetooth place that Widcomm put on your desktop. It should find your phone and set up the DUN and load the modem. I had some difficulty with this. It had trouble pairing. It took a few tries. Also now that it is loaded, it seems I have to re-pair every time I reboot my computer. Still working on that one..
