VFAT device error - Linksys WMP54G
I have tried to install a Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI adapter into my Dell Dimension XPS T550. I have followed the installation directions (several times). Every time I install the PCI card, on reboot, I get the message VFAT device initialization error. A device or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading. System Halted.
I have looked at all the MS knowledge base articles pertaining to this message and tried all the resolutions suggested. When I remove the wireless card, the system boots fine. With the card in, I can only boot into Safe Mode. Has anyone else had this experience? Do I have a bad card?

I am having the same exact problem installing a Llinksys WMP54G Wireless PCI Adaptor in my wife's HP Pavilion Computer running 98SE. I installed the software first just like the instructions said. After the software installed, I shut it down and inserted the PCI Adapter in and rebooted. It loaded up normal recognizing the new hardware, installing the software, etc. and then it said I needed to restart the computer in order for it to take effect. So I did and then after a minute or so of going through the rebooting, I got the blue screen with these words:
"VFAT Device Initialization Failed. A device or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading. System halted."
I found a Bulletin addressing this error message on Microsoft's Support Site and I did every step they recommended and it still won't work. When I take the Wireless PCI Adaptor out and reboot, everything goes back to working normal. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do or what may be wrong?? Any help would be appreciated!!
