Vostro 270s will not get IP address from dhcp server

Hi

2 brand new Vostro 270s straight out of the box both have the same problem. (Windows 7 PRO)

These are connected to a wired LAN, the NIC fails to find the dhcp server and get itself an ip address. The network cable & port work fine with any other PC. If I change the properties in the NIC to a static IP address it works fine.

I have tried every Realtek driver I can find, both from DELL and Realtek, no difference.

I have wiped one of the machines and re-installed a fresh copy of Win 7, then the chipset drivers (from the DELL supplied CD) - no difference.

Graeme P,

What virus program do you have installed?

After you installed the chipset drivers, did you install the rest of ther drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.
