Wireless 1500 card no recognized and not functional

Hey all

Approximately 2 weeks ago I began to have some connectivity problems with my Dell 1500 Wireless card.  Very intermittent connectivity with my home network.  I downloaded the new drivers and installed them.  The problem was not fixed and I noticed that my wireless adapter itself was not even showing up as a possible device on device manager nor on network connections.  I contacted dell support, and with the help of the dell support staff I uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled the new drivers, then I unseated and reseated my card.  still the issue persists.  when i turn on the computer the card and task bar icons show up for a few seconds/minutes, intermittently, and then ultimately dissappear from my  device manager and task bar.  I notice that windows will give me messages like found new device, ethernet controller, in addition to the wireless adapter being found message it gives.  Does the Dell 1500 driver update come with new broadcom ethernet controllers as well?  Could there be some potential conflict between the broadcom ethernet adapter and the wireless adapter functionality?

Any help will be appreciated.  I already have a new Wireless 1500 card enroute but I'm wondering if this is more of a driver incompatibility or conflict rather than my card being non functional.

Thanks

hi there,
there is a very recent driver for 1500 in the support site that is known to resolve almost all issues pertaining to the card. u should  try that out. if that still doesnt resolve the issue, then from the symptoms given, i feel that it is a card unseated problem. the new card should probably fix it. otherwise the dell techs will replace ur motherboard, because the slots in the motherboard may be the culprit!

hello simon,
there is no known conflict between 1500 and broadcom 440x. and as i said, i would really recommend this new driver that is out in the support site. so even if ur new card comes with a cd, it'll be better if u download the one in the web. keep me posted if there are any further issues.
regards,
sam

hey thanks for the suggestions...i missed the fedex guy today so i'll try on monday to have my new card reinstalled to see if its a seating/motherboard issue....another question though....could there be incompatibility issues with the broadcom ethernet adapter and ethernet controller and the wireless 1500 card, given that the 1500 wireless card has broadcom components (as part of the installed package i downlaoded for the most recent drivers from 11.15.06 i noticed the 1500 card has file names associated with broadcom).... does this mean there is some interaction between the dell 1500 card and the ethernet controllers and adapter since all 3 seem to have some sort of broadcom component.

thanks again for all your help
