Wireless Client Utility

My laptop is missing the Wireless Client Utility in Services.
Can anyone tell me how I can obtain this item?

Marine167,

It looks like 2Wire's setup utility (see this PDF file from 2wire)  takes care of the basics, and relies on XP's generic support for wireless devices for the rest. The XP generic utility is described in 2Wire's documentation for other adapters (a larger PDF file) beginning on Page 13, "Wireless configuration with Windows XP".

Jim,

I still get the Warning: "Unable To Install The Wireless Client Manager" , when I try to configure my 2Wire Wireless PC Card.

Any ideas as to how I can fix this problem? SBC DSL Support told me to go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services.  Then check to see if Wireless Client Utility is included in the list of Services. The Wireless Client Utility does not appear in my list of services.

Jim,

Problem solved!

As usually I found the solution to my problem in the Community Forum. In this case I located the solution in Wireless Zero Configuration.

Mike,

Good deal! It would have been better if SBC Support had given you the correct name of the service that had to be running. :smileysad:

If you're interested, here's a Microsoft TechNet article about Wireless Zero Configuration.  Note that it's based on Service Pack 1.
