Wireless Zero Configuration

I am running a Netgear network with 2 netgear adapters.I hooked up a 4th computer with a d-link bdwlg120 and turned off the wzc and the wireless connection would not work?Any Ideas?? Also when you turn off wzc

and reboot the computer it wants to start automatically. Reading other threads it was suggested to leave that off but when i reboot it comes back on?What am I missing?

Thanks Trafficflow

to disable the WZC got to Start>run..type services.msc.

In the services box that pops up..scroll down the list untill you see the listing for wireless zero config..double click on that line and it the next box will be the option to set the service operating conditions..you can disable it or just set it to manual..if you are not using it at all just go ahead and set it to disabled

Thanks. I been reading about improving my wireless network and I have a question about WZC.What is the benefit of turning off wzc to improve the connection on my wireless network? Is it a conflict issue. My goal is to make my wireless network as stong as possible. Any suggestions?

  Thanks Trafficflow

In my opinion, the WZC utility is far superior to any third party software out there.  We all complain about too many services running so why add another piece of software to do what Windows can do by itself????

Hey Jm.Good to hear from you again!
Read your opinion on Wzc. I am not quite sure how you go about setting up with out third party. It asks for disk on install? Am I supposed to shut off one or the other? I just installed a Netgear Wg111t 108 mbps on a number 4 computer. It is the furthest away from router and works the best. I am probably going to get another to replace my 54mbps.I understand that you are locked in with your ISP though.

As long as you know the default IP address of the router setup page, username, and password that's all you need to setup the router.

Change the default password of the router and use nothing less than WPA with a VERY strong password.  You can setup a router in 5 minutesNo software needed.
