Wireless network doesn't show

I have a recently-purchased Inspiron 6000 running Windows 7.  I have set up a home wireless network on a wireless router (D-Link) but it does not show up under wireless network connections (others in the neighbourhood do).  It does appear however under 'Manage My Connections', where it is listed correctly to automatically connect.  The SSID is not hidden.   Network adapters in the Dell are all reported as working normally, and the drivers are also reportedly up to date.  Wireless networking is switched on. Can anyone suggest what my problem might be?

Delete/remove the listed network under 'Manage My Connections'.  Scan for the network again and connect to the wireless network.   On occasion something changes on the network like passwords encryption and such.  The connection could just be corrupt.   Delete it, let the computer find the network again and connect.  You might even try a reboot in between deleting the network and connecting to the network again. This is where I would start. Good luck, Bryan
