Wireless problem on dell inspiron 1545
Hello everyone,
I can't connect to the wireless network at my university:
I have 2 network adapters: Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, Marvell Yukon 88E80 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I don't know what more info I can give to help you.
BTW I already turned the wireless switch on, but windows xp still says: "No wireless networks were found in range"
Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

have you tried pushing the F2 key? On this particular model, you dont need to push fn+f2; Only F2 key; pressing it once should enable wireless. Try that. If it doesnt work;

reneec59,
Did you try Fn and F2 at the same time or F2?
Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled
If you cannot connect, try running Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.

hey kiterunner, thanks for your reply :)
Yes, I pressed it and I could see the "x" mark doesn't show on the taskbar when I press it. So the wireless switch is on.
I can't think of other stuff to try. Can you?

try this if you have XP; (wont help if you have vista)
Start >> All Programs >> Dell Wireless >> Dell Wireless card utility >> Uncheck the first two boxes >>> Apply and OK;
and then Start >> Connect to >> Wireless network connection >>> click on your network and hit connect button
If you have Vista; follow this:
Start >> Connect To >> Click on your network and hit the connect button;
PS: The F2 key acts like a switch; so if you push it once it will turn off the wireless and if you push it again; it will turn ON the wireless

KITERUNNER, you nailed it!! Some programmer should be slapped for this one.
Wonder how many people have had this problem. Never would I have just hit the F2 key. Just doesn't make sense. Think how easy it is to turn the wireless off by mistake!!!!!
Thanks.....

THANK YOU!!!! This worked, it has been driving me crazy for months I couldn't get online, not even the techs on the phone could help me from my local internet co. Whew......what a great day!! F2......not FN + F2 who would have done that. I accidently turned it off and didn't realize it then couldn't put it back on.
